How does this process work?

  • After you fill out the application form, I'll be in touch to confirm our start date.
  • Once we've confirmed the start date, I'll send you an invoice for 50% of the total.
  • After I receive your payment, you'll receive a welcome package that includes an intake questionnaire that will pave the way for our first strategy call. You'll also get a link to my calendar to set up your two 1-hour strategy calls.
  • I'll set you up in my project management tool, where I'll guide you through a to-do list of tasks to get us through this project quickly and painlessly.
  • On our first strategy call, we'll draw from your completed intake questionnaire to discuss your online strategy, website goals and content requirements. You must have completed the questionnaire before this call. I'll answer any questions you might have about the tasks on your to-do list. You'll go away with some homework to be completed before our second strategy call.
  • On our second call, you'll make some choices about fonts, colour palette and image placement. We'll also clarify if there are any outstanding tasks to be completed.
  • Once I receive your content (copy and images) I'll start building your site on my development site.
  • I'll invoice you for the remaining 50% of the project fee within two weeks of our start date. Once I receive your final payment, I'll transfer your new site to your domain and your website will launch.
  • If your copy isn't ready within the 2-week window, I'll use placeholder text instead and put up a coming soon page to hide your work in progress from prying eyes. I'll provide you with video tutorials to show you how to add your content yourself and how to turn off the coming soon page.
  • You'll have 30 days of email support from the dates of launch during which I'll be happy to answer any questions that aren't covered by the video tutorials I supply.

What if I don't have a logo?
We won't let a little logo get in the way of your goals. We'll choose a beautiful font to represent your business name. You can replace your business name with a professional logo down the line.

Can you help me with my copy?
Website design and development are my area of expertise, but I'm happy to supply you with a copy guide to help you with your writing.
If you're interested in working with a copywriter, I'd be glad to recommend someone. Keep in mind they may not be available within our time frame, in which case I'll build your site with placeholder text and provide a video tutorial on how to change it out yourself.

Where can I find photos for my website?
I highly recommend you use professional photos for your website and a professional head shot is a must. If you don't already have photos, I can recommend a few stock photography sites where you can purchase good-quality images.

Can you recommend a website host?
I sure can. I highly recommend my preferred host, Websavers. They offer quality hosting, amazing customer service and, because I'm used to working within their interface, I can get your site up and running much faster.

Domain registration is included when you sign up for Websaver's Titanium Hosting plan. It comes to $120 per year.
